The provision of long and short-term meetings with persons not associated with the provision of legal assistance to suspects, accused and convicted in institutions of the FSIN of Russia in the Republic of Karelia is suspended in order to prevent the spread of morbidity among suspects, accused and convicted persons, as well as employees of the penitentiary system of the Russian Federation, on the basis of the Resolution of the Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia dated October 16, 2020 No. 92 from October 26, 2020 and until further notice in institutions of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Republic of Karelia.

The provision of visits to suspects, accused and convicted persons with lawyers and other persons who provide them with legal assistance, as well as with employees of the investigation and inquiry bodies, as before, is carried out in the premises of the rooms for short-term visits, where there is a boundary glass, using personal protective equipment breathing by all participants of the date.

From 19.10.2020, in order to prevent the accumulation of visitors in the premises of the reception rooms (waiting rooms), reception is carried out by appointment in order of priority, observing the time interval.

We ask the relatives of the suspects, the accused, and the convicted to treat with understanding the introduction of restrictive measures. Their cancellation will be announced additionally, including on the official website of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Republic of Karelia.

It is also worth noting that in accordance with Part 2 of Article 50 of the Federal Law of March 30, 1999 No. 52-FZ "On the Sanitary and Epidemiological welfare of the Population", officials exercising federal state sanitary and epidemiological surveillance in the event of the threat of the emergence and spread of infectious diseases and mass non-infectious diseases (poisoning) have the right to give orders to citizens and legal entities on the conduct of additional sanitary and anti-epidemic (preventive) measures. Chief state sanitary doctors and their deputies, along with the rights provided for in Article 50 of this Federal Law, in the event of a threat of the emergence and spread of infectious diseases that pose a danger to others, may make reasoned decisions on the introduction (cancellation) of restrictive measures in organizations and at facilities.
