THE DIRECTORATE OF FEDERAL PENITENTIARY SERVICE FOR THE REPUBLIC OF MORDOVIA REPORTS:

Information about the outbreak of COVID-19 in CC-7 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Republic of Mordovia is false.

In correctional colony No. 7, to date, not a single case of a new coronavirus infection has been detected. The sanitary and epidemiological situation in the institution is stable and is constantly monitored.

Also, the information that circulated in the media about 15 convicts who inflicted bodily harm allegedly in protest against the inaction of the administration of the institution is not true.

On June 19, 2020, seven convicts for serious crimes who were in premises for notorious violators of the order of serving the sentence, in demonstrative-blackmail form, inflicted surface cuts on their forearms with blades from disassembled disposable razors.

All convicts were immediately examined by medical personnel and all necessary assistance was provided for them. These cuts do not represent any danger to health and life.

The convicts committed these actions in order to destabilize the institution and incite the administration.

An audit is currently underway, the materials of which will be sent to the investigating authorities.
