Representatives of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia discussed with the Embassy of France in Moscow the problems of the incidence of coronavirus infection in prisons.
The delegation of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia answered the questions of the French side regarding the fight against infection in the Russian penitentiary institutions. The meeting was attended by the Embassy's Legal and Judicial Advisor Benjaman Danlo, his assistant Cristina Droje, representatives of the diplomatic office - Ms. Joanna Boe and Rudolf Grenier, as well as the intern of the Legal and Legal Adviser Eloise Abdalan. The delegation of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia was headed by Oleg Lazarenko, deputy head of the Administrative department of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia - the head of the department for ensuring interaction with the CIS countries, international cooperation and protocol events. The head of the UOMSO Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, General-major of the Internal Service Alexander Priklonsky, answered the numerous questions from the French side about the state of prison medicine and the fight against coronavirus. The comprehensive report of Alexander Prilonsky was supplemented by the explanations of Oleg Lazarenko, assistant director of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia Ilyas Ermolaev and deputy head of the information center of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia - coordinator Alexandra Samarina.
In addition to coronavirus infection, embassy representatives were interested in the state of Russian prison medicine in general, especially the treatment of tuberculosis and HIV.
Summarizing the above, Alexander Priklonsky said that medicine is not only emerging from the pandemic with the least losses compared to other countries, but also ready for any development of the situation in this area.
During the meeting, both sides expressed interest in continuing cooperation, and Mr. Danlo spoke about the intentions of the French Ministry of Justice to invite Russian prison officials to their country as part of bilateral cooperation. Oleg Lazarenko proposed to give a systemic character to the communication of the penitentiary departments of the two countries. In this regard, the French Embassy and the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia are considering the possibility of concluding an appropriate Memorandum of Cooperation.
