Director of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia took part in the “Human Rights in Quarantine” session, which was moderated by the Representative of the Russian Federation at the European Court of Human Rights - Deputy Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation Mikhail Galperin and Director General for Human Rights and the Rule of Law of the Council of Europe Christos Giakoumopoulos.
The President of the European Court of Human Rights, Linos-Alexandre Sicilianos greeted the participants via video message.
Director of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia Alexander Kalashnikov paid special attention to the issue of respecting human rights in places of deprivation of liberty in the context of restrictive measures in his speech.
He said, “Direct and unquestioning respecting human rights, ensuring the safety of life and health of suspects, accused and convicted persons and those who are in constant contact with them during his activities on protection of human rights or on duty are particularly important in the context of the spread of a new coronavirus infection”.
The High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova, Director of the Federal Bailiffs Service - Chief Bailiff of the Russian Federation Dmitry Aristov, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Rustam Badasyan, the Director of Information Society and Action against Crime, Directorate General Human Rights and Rule of Law, of the Council of Europe Jan Kleisen also took part in the discussion.
